Jakarta, November 24th 2022

National Center for Sustainability Report (NCSR) once again held the 2022 Asia Sustainability Reporting Rating (ASRRAT) by raising the circular economy as the main theme entitled “Pathway to Circular Economy”. The trophy presentation took place at The Westin Hotel, Jakarta (Thursday, 24/11) and was attended by dozens of company executives participating in ASRRAT 2022. The award, which has been running for 18 years, was attended by other countries, namely Bangladesh, the Philippines, Australia, and Russia.

On the night of the trophy presentation, Dr. Ali Darwin and the Chairman of NCCR Board of Trustees, Prof. Bambang Brojonegoro, Ph.D., launched the new name and logo of NCSR which has now changed to the National Center for Corporate Reporting (NCCR).

“Currently, sustainability information is not only included in a stand-alone sustainability report but can also be included in the company’s annual financial or annual report. In addition, the sustainability reporting framework is not only based on GRI but also from various other organizations, most recently from IFRS Sustainability through the IFRS Foundation. Ali continued, “Based on these considerations, the name NCSR recently changed to NCCR, which means that we will not only be involved with sustainability reports but more than that, covering all types of corporate reporting”.

NCCR Chair Dr. Ali Darwin said that “Pathway to Circular Economy, which is the theme of this year’s ASRRAT, is a series of the 7th Sustainability Practitioners Conference (SPC). The ASRRAT theme this time is very relevant to our efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Ali further explained, “We must communicate the implementation of sustainable development to the public through a Sustainability Report. The extent of an entity contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals and the achievement of its ESG Performance can be accounted for in a sustainability report.”

In his remarks, Chairman NCCR Board of Trustees Prof. Bambang Brojonegoro, Ph.D., said. “Creating a circular economy is the business opportunity of our time. This strengthens the local economy inclusively and socially. Furthermore, Bambang explained, “The circular economy will encourage 4.4 million net job creations by 2030, of which 75% of these jobs are for women. The transition to circular economy practices will increase Indonesia’s GDP by IDR 593 – 638 trillion, equivalent to 2.3 – 2.5 percent of GDP in 2030″.

However, it requires ambitious collaboration involving the government, companies, civil society, financial institutions, and research organizations to make this happen,” Bambang concluded.

On the same occasion, the Chair of the 2022 ASRRAT Jury, Prof. Eko Ganis Sukoharsono, Ph.D., CSRA, said “The Covid-19 pandemic has brought many lessons for the Sustainability Practitioner profession. Various solutions and innovations have been developed in this state. Three years after we were in the Covid-19 era, a surprising innovation came through the new GRI standard called the GRI Standards 2021”.

“The assessment is based on the level of compliance with the sustainability reporting against the GRI Standards. We involve assessors from independent scholars from 15 universities in Indonesia and one assessor from the University of Essex UK”, Eko further explained. The NCCR provides four sustainability report ratings: Platinum (the highest), Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

ASRRAT 2022 was attended by 50 (fifty) companies/organizations. A total of 10 (ten) companies achieved a Platinum rating.
